I don’t know about you, but mornings for me are extremely challenging. I don’t like waking up and when I wake up all I want is to go back to sleep. If I don’t have anything going on that day I will stay in bed…all day…not even getting up for food. Here are my top ten tips to get your rear in gear, and your ass out of bed when you have things to get done and your hatred for mornings is holding you back.
1. Catch Some Serious Zzzz
The night before is just as important as the morning of. Put the phone away, skip that Netflix binge and get your full night’s sleep.
2. Get Prepped
Prepare your outfit, lunch, bag, and anything else you may need for the next morning the night before. This will save you time and stress in the morning, and who knows, maybe you could get an extra ten minutes of sleep.
3. Leave Snooze Alone, it Doesn’t Like the Abuse
Once your alarm goes off get your butt up! If you keep hitting snooze you aren’t doing yourself any favours. Your alarm will hate the work you are making it do, and you won’t even be getting a restful sleep, so take a deep breath and just get up.
4. Brew That Bitch
I don’t know about you, but I can’t live without a warm beverage in the morning. Gimme my grande Americano, or Chai Latte…even if it’s just a hot water with a slice of lemon. Not sure what it is but that warmth gets me going in the morning.
5. Air You Kidding Me?
Get Some Fresh Air. Going for a walk, having your morning coffee, or even reading a chapter of your favourite book outside to start your day is an awesome way to wake up your mind and get you prepped for the day ahead.
6. Getter Done Early
If it’s your day off why not get all your errands done early? Go to the mall when it opens to return those shoes that don’t fit, get your grocery shopping done or even book early morning appointments to get yourself going.
7. Wash Yesterday Away
Today is a new day! Take a shower; wash your face. Cup O’ Coffee by Lush is one of my personal favourite facial scrubs to wash away yesterday’s woes.
8. Find Your Working Song
I find that listening to my “Wake Up Happy” playlist on Spotify while getting ready really sets me up for a productive day. Find a playlist that starts your day off on the right foot.
9. EAT YOUR DARN FOOD!!!
Even if you are grabbing a muffin on your sprint out the door make sure you give your body some fuel to run on. It’s called Breakfast for a reason. You break the fast you were having while you were sleeping. Without food to burn your body can’t create energy, thus, you will be tired.
10. Step it Up
Put the steps together and make a routine that gets you excited to get up in the morning, and follow it!
